Guide Service Costs: (Note - all prices are in CDN)

 

Costs will vary based on the program and style of guiding.  

• Normal guide expenses are included in the rate, however custom travel expenses may be required for private and specialized programs. E.g. Guides' travel, food and associated costs are extra.  

• 2:1 designates the Guest (you) to Guide (me) ratios.  2:1 means that there are two guests and one guide.

• Specific programs with set dates and itineraries have prices set.

• Custom dates and private instructional programs are available throughout the season with the following rate schedule based on Guide/Guest ratios.  There are additional fees for extraordinary long days.  Certain objectives require 1:1 guiding ratios (e.g. Matterhorn, Sir Donald & more technical long objectives).  

• An additional 5% Tax may be charged.

Alpine Climbing Guiding:

 

Alpine routes frequently must be guided at 1:1 or 2:1 ratios.  Long technical routes (e.g. Matterhorn, Sir Donald, Becky Chuinard) warrant a surcharge of $200/per day.   Larger groups can be accommodated by hiring a second guide to maintain a 2:1 ratio.

Mountaineering Instruction & Glacier Walks:

 

Instructional guiding ratios depend on the course and objectives.  Glacier walks and skill development courses can be run at higher ratios.

Rock Climbing Guiding:

 

Multi-pitch rock climbing frequently must be guided at 1:1 or 2:1 ratios.   Instructional guiding can be programmed up to 5:1 ratios.  1/2 day rates can also be arranged on a custom basis.

Hiking Guiding:

 

Day Hikes, Family-Hikes, Hut-based hiking, Heli-Hikes, pick-nicking and multi-day back-packs can all be arranged for.    Rates for Helicopter will be additional, based on distances.   1/2 day rates can also be arranged on a custom basis.

Payment Schedule and Terms:

 

A deposit of 50% of total trip cost is required upon booking to secure your date(s). Full Payment is due 90 days prior to the trip start or can be paid at the time of booking.

 

Payments may be made by Interact, PAYPAL or email transfer (Canada or US) or bank wire transfer (Canada, US or EU).
